How to add Tumblr to your Nitty Music Social instance

Tumblr connects over OAuth 2.0. After authorising, Nitty Music Social asks which of your blogs to post to, so one Tumblr account can become several channels.

Register an application

Go to tumblr.com/oauth/apps and click Register application.

Fill in the application name, description and your website. Tumblr requires all of them.

Set the callback URL

Your Tumblr redirect URI:

  • Production: https://your-social-domain.com/integrations/social/tumblr
  • Local development: http://localhost:4200/integrations/social/tumblr
  • Docker: http://localhost:4007/integrations/social/tumblr

Copy the keys

Tumblr shows an OAuth Consumer Key and, behind Show secret key, an OAuth Consumer Secret. Add both to your environment:

Restart and connect

In Nitty Music Social, click Add Channel, pick Tumblr, authorise, then choose the blog you want this channel to post to.

Scopes

Nitty Music Social requests write and offline_access. The second one is what lets Nitty Music Social refresh its access token, so without it the channel stops working after the first token expires.

Post settings

Tumblr posts accept a title, a link URL, a source URL and tags. Media limits are up to 30 images or a single video. See Posting rules by platform.
